It’s the week of the Gemini new moon, which occurred Monday, May 30th at 9 degrees and 3 minutes of Gemini.
(May 30, 2022 at 7:30 A.M. EST)
Gemini is the air sign that has to do with gathering and collecting information, networking, and is the sign of siblings (the 3rd house of a chart also tells us about someone’s relationship to their own siblings!) It’s an air sign (having to do with the intellect), and mutable, which means that the purpose of the Gemini energy is to facilitate change and movement.
For me, my sun sign is Gemini, and I’ve been feeling the vitality and creativity of the sun as the transiting sun moves ever closer to my natal sun placement.
If you look at your calendar, on May 30th you’ll see a black circle representing the Gemini new moon. This “blackness” is like an emptiness, which makes sense if you connect it to the symbolism of a new moon, which is a new beginning. An emptiness; a space to be filled- ideally intentionally and consciously.
Despositor of Gemini
This Gemini new moon is very interesting in that Mercury is (still) retrograde at 26 degrees of Taurus. Mercury, being the despositor of this new moon, gives us vital information about how we are being asked to grow, and what energies are available for us to do so. It is also trining Pluto, who is also retrograde, at 28 degrees of Capricorn.
Pluto rx in Capricorn (trine) Mercury rx in Taurus
The trine is a supportive aspect, and with the 2 retrogrades aspecting eachother, the energy is flipped creating an outward energy (where a single retrograde would describe an inward, reflective, “looking back” type of energy.) This is energy gives a supportive impetus for speaking out and affirming one’s needs (Taurus) amidst the structures in their lives. This could mean at school, at work, at home, in relationships. What are the most important areas of your life, and in what ways do you need to speak up and bring truth about your needs being unmet? Where have you, in the past, rescinded your power in not sharing honestly what doesn’t work for you?
Saturn in Aquarius (square) Mercury rx in Taurus
Retrograde Mercury at 26 degrees of Gemini is also squaring Saturn (almost exactly), who is at 25 degrees and 13 minutes of Aquarius. This square between Saturn and Mercury tells us about action that needs to be taken. Where Saturn is, we are talking about personal responsibility and work. This configuration is asking us to consider how we need to adjust our thinking and perception (Mercury). What mental work do you need to do in order to improve the quality of your life? How can changing your thought process and the way you self-talk bring more comfort to your life? The Taurus archetype does have to do with survival, however it also speaks to our needs and the things in life that create comfort and safety. These things can be both tangible and/ or intangible. Keep in mind here that the way that we think about things determines the way that we experience them, which reinforces the belief systems that are in place, whether or not those systems are helpful and feel good or not! With Saturn here in Aquarius, we are talking about breaking patterns, so this is an incredible opportunity to consider how you need to edit your inner dialogue, and plant some fresh new seeds of improved and higher perception. As your thoughts change, your experience of the world will too!
Jupiter + Mars (conjunction) in Aries
Last, but certainly not least, we’ve got Jupiter and Mars conjunct at 3 degrees and 4 degrees respectively in Aries. Have you ever, as a teenager, sprayed Axe Body Spray into a lit lighter? I know, that’s uh…super dangerous. Which is why I NEVER have done that either…*looks away guiltily*
Well, imagine for a moment what that *would* be like. Explosive, right? With Jupiter right next to Mars amplifying and expanding, this energy can potentially serve as a boost to impulsive and angry behaviour. Watch out for being rash or flying off the cuff. A great way to channel Mars energy is through physical activity, so things like exercise, outside work, or anything that requires strenuous exertion physically is really supported by this energy. Sex included! So power clean that back yard for spring, and then head back into the house and turn those lights down low.
In being conscious of this fiery energy, it can also be put to work to support your connection to body, by making space to listen to what your body is communicating to you. It was just very recently that Jupiter exited Pisces, which would have been a time of profound connection and hopefully inspiration for you! This Mars + Jupiter in Aries energy is providing an excellent opportunity for you to put to work the inspiration that you received earlier this month. Aries talks about new beginnings, which is why the energy is fiery and physical- the burst of assertion and physical stamina creates a context where a new project, idea or creation can be given the necessary fuel to take those first few courageous steps.
What is the Gemini new moon asking of me?
So what do we do with all this information?
Here are a few thoughts to consider when planning your new moon ritual or writing your new moon prayer (see mine below).
1- Where in my life do I need to speak up about my needs?
2- Where do I need to change my habitual thought patterns in order to bring the new and good things that I want into my life?
3- What inspiration have I received that I need to begin taking action on?
A prayer, by me, for this 2022 Gemini new moon
As the moon grows,
So does my commitment to my own empowerment through taking up space and speaking up for what I need.
As the moon grows,
So does my commitment to personal responsibility for my thought life and how my thoughts echo into every sphere of my earth existence.
As the moon grows,
So do the rewards, both tangible and intangible, for the work I do for both myself and for the community of consciousness of which I am a part.
And so it is.
Happy new moon beautiful people!
