The old Halloween classic, starring the beloved Sanderson Sisters always rises back to attention during the fall time of pumpkins and Halloween. It is my personal favorite Halloween movie (followed closely by Witches, by Roald Dahl).
Now that there’s a second Hocus Pocus movie, the fall season has levelled up even more in excitement around here. Of course anyone who watched the movie all the way through to the end knows that the Sanderson Sisters are depicted as “bad witches”, which for many is a huge variation from the healing, nature connected, Spirit infused witchery that is slowly leaving the occult arena and spreading to the mainstream spiritual community.
When I talk to my children about the history of the Salem witch trials, it always morphs into conversation about how we are ALL inherently magical and connected to nature…because we ARE nature.
Everyone has the power within themselves to connect to the invisible realms, and bring the healing of both light and love onto the earth plane. Not everyone chooses to use their “magic powers” for good, and not everyone is aware or accepting of these innate abilities that we all have.
These are choices that we all have to make.
As for me, well let’s just say that I am STOKED to be able to put Hocus Pocus quotes on my notebooks, tote bags, coffee mugs, clothing, jackets, backpacks and social media accounts. These would also make lovely wall art, cute poster or a really cool vinyl sticker.
I’m a love and light type of witch, and these movies make me excited at the opportunity to bring up subjects like this with my children that, at other times of the year, wouldn’t arise so organically.
