New moon speaks about the initiation of a new process. In Leo, we are talking about our sense of self. Our gifting, sense of affirmation of self, where we stand out, and how we express ourselves to the world. This is where we connect to the joy, wonder and spontaneous magic of living.
When there’s a new moon, we can look to see where it falls in our charts, and consider what we would like to plant in our lives, relative to the presenting energies.
Because it is in Leo, we are dealing with the area of our psyche that has to do with how we see ourselves in the world, and how we affirm, honour and present ourselves to the world. You can think of the lion…the king of the jungle with its gorgeous mane and inherent understanding of its value and worth to the group.
The only direct aspect this new moon is making is to Jupiter in Aries, with Chiron in a loose conjunction at 8 degrees and 16 degrees, respectively. This is primo initiation energy.
With Jupiter in Aries, trining this new moon in Leo, we are being given an opportunity to planet the seeds of something that we’ve always dreamed of for ourselves, but that has seemed far away. With Chiron right there, we are being reminded of the pain that arises at the thought that maybe it won’t work out, or in the past when I took this chance it didn’t go how I thought it would. Jupiter points us to our belief system, and so this is marvellous chance to consider how your beliefs about your destiny and self actualization are either supporting or hindering the manifestation of that special destiny. What wisdom can you wring out of those past “learning” experiences (see what I did there?), and use to propel your present vision for your life. This Leo energy speaks to us about courage, pride, generosity, and a deep sense of purpose. Leo is inextricably connected to the heart, so you’ll have to go inwards to tap into this energy.

Buckle up, fam.
Mercury at 18 degrees of Leo opposes Saturn RX at 23 degrees, 08 minutes of Aquarius nudging us to take an inward look (retrograde) at the way we think of ourselves, and how that perspective has been influenced by tradition and the life structures that we’ve built for ourselves in the past. Sure, in the past people did not make money doing such and such, or there was a typical trajectory that was expected to be followed (the ol’ high school- college- marriage- children- 25 years employment- retirement- death), but how have things changed, and how do you understand (Mercury) the interplay of your unique purpose (Leo) with the movement of society (Saturn) and the current shifts that are taking place in the world (Aquarius)?
This aspect is making a square on either side to a major conjunction in Taurus with Uranus, the North Node and Mars. These 2 squares, connected to the opposition, create a “kite” formation, with its apex at this powerhouse conjunction point. It is here, in Taurus, with these 3 planets where we are grounding (Taurus: earth) the changes that are being set in motion during this new moon. This conjunction gives a dynamic energy where we are making huge shifts in our established patterns (Uranus), and initiating a new, courageous, trailblazing way forward (Mars) that feels in line with the bigger picture for our lives (North node), but in a way that is practical and tangible (Taurus) and in line with our values.
Some kind of quit your job, sell your house, “its now or never” type of energy.
This is a very powerful conjunction, a once in a lifetime conjunction in fact (since Uranus’ orbit is about 84 years), so while I’m not necessarily advocating to wild out and do the unthinkable, this is an opportune time to focus on the grand trajectory of your life (what do I want to look back on and know that I said “yes” to during my last moments of life?), and the entrenched patterns and thoughts that are preventing you from moving into the discomfort zone and really doing what you feel MEANT to do. This feeling of purpose and destiny is the pressure release valve for the instability between the Mercury and Saturn opposition that’s been affirming your perceptions about your special contribution to the world, and at the same time experiencing the fear that makes it hard to step away from what you know (Saturn in Aquarius). On the bigger global level, I am expecting some dramatic changes and advancements (Mars) to the financial sector, food production industry, and housing markets (Taurus)…preceded of course by a surprising shake up that necessitates innovation. You heard it here first!
The square that the Jupiter/ Chiron conjunction in Aries makes to Venus and the Black Moon Lilith at 12 and 11 degrees (respectively) in Cancer talks about a sense of impending judgement or disbelonging that we fear, should we take the plunge and leap into our sense of purpose. As a teenager, I always thought that when I grew up these things would no longer be an issue. As a legit adult, (I pay my taxes on time and don’t like going out past 9pm anymore, which makes me 100% adult) I have realized that a lot of people walk around with those same fears about not belonging or facing rejection. With the dynamic square we are being required to make a change, and with Jupiter relative to our belief systems. What do you believe to be true about your belonging to the group (Cancer) , should you come full out about who you are (Mars: identity), and what you’re about (Jupiter), and then take action on that front?
I can tell you that change, necessarily, creates change, so expect some shifting to happen. The square aspect is an uncomfortable one that is meant for growth…and the upside to that discomfort and potential loss is an upgrade to your vibration and a deeper connection to your deeper self. Along with that comes people that are more aligned to the higher vibe life that you want to lead…think of it as “making space”. Of course, words are easy….the parting from those circumstances that prevent you from being your best self is the harder part. Someone told me a long time ago “this is not about love. Of course you love that person. And also, you love and respect yourself and value your wellness, so you must decide: it’s either their comfort or your own wellness and growth.” So love isn’t involved in the equation, since you love that person either way. We must, however, expand and grow and if that means departing from something that is keeping you unwell, that love can be expressed from a distance. When you shift higher, you are always shifting CLOSER to who you are at your deepest level.
Sigh. Sometimes life is HARD y’all. But you already know that….
This new moon is a significant one with its fiery energy (both Aries and Leo implicated) and its connection to both your sense of identity and your sense of purpose and expression (Notice that your identity, 4th house, precedes your self actualization, 5th house. This shows us that we must be firm in who we are (4th house) before we can go out into the world and shine (Leo) in a way that supports the group and the evolution of humanity (Aquarius, opposing Leo). Take advantage of this once in a lifetime Uranus/ North Node/ Mars conjunction and plant some seeds that will support you existing in a way that looks to your future and long term objectives (not just present survival).
Wishing you lustrous hair, a few minutes of spotlight, and a powerful connection to your heart. Lean into this new moon and ask yourself: Where am I meant to shine in the world, what do I need to part with in order for this to happen, and what would this look like for me on a practical, survival, day to day level? Remember, these are seeds you are planting. When you are aligned and doing your part, the Universe will meet you and take care of the rest.
